About
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English from Texas Tech University, where my research focused on the correlation of Mythology and Medieval Literature in popular culture. I also have a minor in German and a profound interest in languages and cultures, including, of course, folklore and the oral tradition of literature.
In addition to my academic writing, I write creatively, incorporating my knowledge of, and passion for, mythology and folklore into my stories. Currently, I am working on a novel which takes place in Ancient Ireland and examines the conflict of Roman and Celtic cultures. To take a page from Juliet Marillier, I like to call it “Historical Fantasy”.
As you can see, writing is my passion, but it is also much more than that. It is both my vocation and my avocation–my calling if you will. This is what makes me so good at my job! Just as some hear the call of canvas, concert halls, or the stage, I hear pen scratching on paper (or, as often is more practical these days, the tapping of a keyboard), and it is music to my ears.
I currently reside in League City, Texas with my husband and two dogs, all of whom inspire both humor and angst in my creative work. Here’s to my muses!
